During This Meeting it was proposed that we go forward with the process of becoming a 501-3C non-profit corporation. This would enable CUPS to set-up a bank account and purchase presentation equipment and pay for expenses incurred developing the CUPS website. It would also allow CUPS to collect funds through donations and membership dues. Thanks to Brant Davis who spearheaded research on completing this task, and assistance from his sister-in-law who is a lawyer, we can proceed with this undertaking (pro bono). The caveat is that we need to complete paperwork and file with the state of CO before Brant’s sister-in-law (Jan) leaves the state in the very near future. Brant stated in order to accomplish this task we must provide the state with four officers of the non-profit corp. At this point we decided that we were a quorum and appointed temporary officers to fulfill the requirement.

Election of term (to be determined) officers will be held in November.

It was also proposed that we begin a CUPS fund to move towards the purchase of digital projector:

The proposed annual membership fee was discussed and the amounts ranged from $10 to $30 per member. The amount will be up for a membership vote in November. If you have ideas, comments or objections please post on our website:

I contacted the CSRA (Colorado Scuba Retailers Association) and the G-3 event has been canceled for this year  due to a direct conflict with DEMA but may be revised  in the following years. They are also looking at several other venues that might allow us to have a show this fall. I have requested we be given more time to prepare for any event that might involve a staging of our work.

Please prepare your suggestions for By-laws for our next meeting.
