CUPS June 2007 Meeting

Subject –Video Presentation – Raja Ampat

Michael Stallings will present his most recent DVD production - A 30 minute video of his 12 day trip to Lembeh- Halmahera-Raja Ampat aboard the MV Odyssea 1 in December 2006.  This area is known for its diverse corals, colorful and abundant fish life, and exotic reef creatures.  Mike posted a rough cut of the start of the video in his Gallery - enititled "April 2007".

The seas around Raja Ampat are possibly the richest in the world. A survey conducted by Nature Conservancy in 2002 brought Raja Ampat's total number of confirmed corals to 537 species - an incredible 75% of all known coral species. In addition, 828 fish species were recorded, raising the known total for Raja Ampat to an amazing 1,074. Raja Ampat's strong ocean currents sweep coral larvae across the surrounding oceans replenishing other reef ecosystems. Raja Ampat's coral diversity, resilience, and ability to replenish reefs make it a global priority for marine protection.

Mike will share some of his experiences during the trip. In addition, he plans to show via screen captures some of the editing techniques that he employed to produce the DVD and asks that other members share some of their techniques for video and still slide show presentations.

Lets see if I can do spaces and smilies. Edit, didn't work, I typed 5 spaces after spaces and tried to put in smilies at the end. test2.bmp is a screen capture of what I actually typed.

They work fine on every other forum I visit. DD.net, wetpixil, Scubaboard, and others. I have turned off all my McAfee protection.....lets see if it works. Nope!... Doesn't work on mine or Chuck's.......I don't think it is on our, or at least my end. Didn't mean to steal this thread.....I'm looking forward to seeing Mike's presentation!!

I want to thank everyone that attended the June 19th CUPS Meeting and hope you enjoyed the video, slide show and color enhancing tutorial.

Thank you for your comments and applause. I appreciate the opportunity to showoff some of my work.

The monthly CUPS presentations are a perfect venue to share ideas, comments and imaging techniques.
